Ultrasonic Testing

Ultrasonic Testing (UT) is one of the more common non-destructive testing methods performed on materials. This Ultrasonic Testing (UT) utilizes high frequency mechanical energy, i.e. sound waves, to conduct examinations and measurements on a test area. UT can be used for flaw detection/evaluation, dimensional measurements, material characterization, and more.

Our solution

We can produce real-time and post-scan data processing and provide 'A', 'B' or 'C' scan imaging on metallic or composite products. This allows us to detect defect indications to the most stringent industry standards.

AlphaNDT’s UT inspectors are ASNT, ISO 9712/EN473 and SNT-TC-1A level 2 and 3 qualified, and are highly experienced in using this UT technique. They can interpret the results on-site and are able to give a quick response, enabling product comparison to the given standard so that appropriate measures can be taken.

Benefits

  • Internal defects can be detected and sized when a validated procedure is applied
  • Thick specimens take no more time to examine than thin ones, assuming correct instrumentation set up
  • Access to only one side of the component is needed
  • There is no radiation hazard in ultrasonic examination, and hence no disruption of work as there is with radiography
  • Volumetric and crack like defects can be detected, irrespective of their orientation
  • Reduce the risk of company liability with documented safety standards
  • AlphaNDT´s exclusive, one-stop shop services.
