SIGNING EPC CONTRACT OF THE PHASE ONE OF QUANG NINH THERMAL POWER PLANT

On Nov 2nd, 2005 at Hanoi, an EPC contract for Quang Ninh Thermal Power Plant, the phase one (package No.5) has been officially signed by and between Quang Ninh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company and Shanghai Electric Corporation (SEC).
Quang Ninh Thermal Power Plant, the phase one, has the capacity of 600MW with two 300MW turbines. The contractor who was assigned to carry out this EPC contract – the largest contracting package of the Project- is Shanghai Electric Corporation (SEC) and the value of this contract is US $ 442,126,000. The performance time is within 32 months to complete the turbine No 1 and the completion of turbine No 2 is 39 months.
At the same time of this contract signing ceremony, a memorandum of understanding for investment to construct the Quang Ninh Thermal Power Plant, the phase two, has been signed.
Quang Ninh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company was assigned by Prime Minister to be the sole investor for the Quang Ninh Thermal Power Plant, the phase two, under the same conditions set forth as what stipulated in the phase one, SEC has also committed to construct the Quang Ninh Thermal Power Plant, the phase two, under the same conditions but the performance time will be faster.
